1983 - Life cycle and life stage

The importance of family life cycle stages in determining travel behaviour is emphasised. Changes in life cycle stages (e.g. relationship formation, child birth, offspring ageing and leaving home) are observed to lead to changes in travel behaviour. The activity based approach to understanding the determinants of travel demand is pioneered.
