Fried, M., Havens, J. and Thall, M. propose a synthesized theory of travel behaviour. People are considered to change travel behaviour through a process of trial and error adaptation to changes in circumstances and the surrounding environment. Life events are viewed as ‘shocks’ which mark changes in circumstances.
